Kannappan Palaniappan

I am a faculty member in Computer Science and interested in computer vision, visualization, parallelization and data mining for defense, biological, and biomedical applications. Recent projects include wide area motion imagery, cellular video microscopy and computer-aided medical diagnosis. Recently I was awarded summer internships at the Air Force Research Lab to work on close-to-the-sensor HPC image processing and tracking. Previously I worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center pioneering the Interactive Image SpreadSheet, deformable cloud tracking and Digital Earth/BlueMarble big data visualization.

In 2013-2014, I was on sabbatical as a National Academy of Science Jefferson Science Fellow at the Department of State in Washington, DC.
